Mondays after holiday weekends (especially beautiful summer weekends) are the absolute worst!!!! I wish we could do this weekend all over again.. we had such a blast back in good ole Washington, DC :)
Friday we celebrated July 4th down on the National Mall surrounded by monuments, culture, food and great fireworks. Hadley was such a hellion that day. Literally putting rocks in her mouth and laughing when we tried to get them out. She thought it was hilarious. She visited with about every family around us... and even stole some sips from a lady's drink. She chased dogs, ate dirt and took toys from other innocent babies. She usually goes to bed around 8pm but decided she didn't want to miss the fireworks so she stayed up until 10:30. Wild.child.
We watched the fireworks from the grounds at the Capitol and Hadley actually enjoyed them! I was expecting lots of fear and tears but they were far enough away that the booms weren't too loud. It worked out perfect. We hit up a food truck on the walk home (one of my favorite parts of city living), hopped the metro and then passed out hard.
Saturday one of my best pals from college came to stay with us. She has been living in LA for a while now so I don't get to see her nearly as much as I want to... so glad we got some time together!! We hit up a Nationals game, ordered late night food and played one of our favorite drinking video games. It was just what the doctor ordered after all of this crazy moving (minus the hangovers).
Sunday we kept the DC festivities going by visiting one of the largest farmers markets in the city.. the Eastern Market. If you're in the area I highly recommend it! So many awesome produce venders and flea market stands. There's also a huge indoor market with a restaurant, deli, fresh pasta, seafood, butcher, bakery and basically anything you can dream up in your head. If you love to eat/cook/look at pretty food this place is your mecca... I was practically crying walking around I was so happy.
Today Josh went back to work and the vacation mentality left the building. I was so emo. The good news is Josh and I have decided to stay here for a few years (or for as long as we can fit our family in this condo) so I'm really, really excited to start decorating and settling in!!!!!! No more camping chairs in our family room or sleeping on air mattresses. Thank god. Living in this in between state is hard on the psyche man!
So how was everyone else's holiday weekend?! I hope it was all you dreamed it would be and more :)
