Forever Fireflying shop is UP AND RUNNING!

Monday, September 29, 2014

I know, I know.
It's Monday and many of you are hating your lives. I'm speaking directly to the group of gals and man who attended a severely boozy brunch with us yesterday. I send my deepest hangover regrets

I am soooooo extremely pumped for this particular Monday!

My brand spankin' new Etsy shop is officially open for business!!!!!

How many exclamation points can one blog post have?

Here's a peak at what you can find in the shop...

So many of these designs we're created with my own home, family and friends in mind and I hope they connect with you as much as they connect with me. I'll be working on more designs over the coming months and will update you on any new releases!

In honor of the grand opening I'm offering all you beautiful people 20% off! Use the code "GRANDOPENING20" at checkout. It's good for one week.

To get to the store, you can type in "www.foreverfireflying.etsy.com" in your URL, search for "Forever Fireflying" shop on Etsy or click "ETSY SHOP" up there ^^^^ in the blog menu.

Thank you so much to all of my family and friends who have been so supportive throughout this experience. A BIG, BIG thank you to Josh for always telling me I can do anything and being in my corner. And another BIG, BIG thank you to Hadley for putting up with this transition into working from home... I know this shop has put a damper on some of your play time! I promise I'll make it up to you :)

Wedding inspirations

Friday, September 26, 2014

So I realize I haven't posted about our wedding plans since APRIL and some of you may be wondering if the big day is still on or if we just said eff it and went to the courthouse. While we've thought about the latter many times.. we're still waiting for the big day next Fall! Don't worry mom!

We finally put a deposit down on our venue this week so it's OFFICIALLY happening next year folks. And now I feel like I can officially start planning :) Let the fun...? begin!

I don't really have any details nailed down but I do have a vision for a rustic, relaxed atmosphere under the beautiful night sky. With lots of booze. And Chipotle, obviously.

Give me mason jars, burlap, lace, distressed wood and some beautiful flowers and we are in business people.

Here are a few inspiring images for the big ole day.

Now, if one of you can line up a rustic beer bar and contact the fire marshall about allowing chinese lanterns in Maryland we will be SET.

Halloween: Spooky threads

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

It's another Halloween round up folks!

I'm sure I've mentioned this a million times before but I love Halloween. My dad and step mom have been putting on a huge Halloween party for 10+ years, it's right around my birthday and any reason to dress up as a Chipotle BOOrito is more than okay with me.

So obviously we need to decorate the babe.

Here are some of my favorite Halloween goodies right now!

Festive jammies are my absolute favorite!!!!

Happy hump day pals,

Etsy shop is opening.....

I am so excited for this next venture to begin and to finally share it all with you. I feel like I've been teasing you guys for a while now, my apologies. I blame the perfectionist in me. She's been a little cray lately with the deets.

Check back in on Monday for a special coupon code $$$$$

Hugs to you all,

Hadley's Threads: Metallic scallops & leather

Friday, September 19, 2014

Another day, another microfashion event.

Does it get better than metallics and leather?
I don't think so.

I found this adorable, metallic scalloped tee shirt on Etsy (go figure) when Hadley was a wee one and have been waiting for her to GROW. That little nug is all limbs like her father. We purchased the gold scallop but she currently only has copper listed in her store, which looks very similar.

leather bow // sadie sky boutique
moccs // freshly picked

In other news, we survived a serious toddler wipe out this week. I usually use plastic tumblers for my water but the other day I used a big, fat mason jar instead. Hadley always drinks out of mine so I let her have it. She walked away with it in her hands and tripped... and then proceeded to belly flop in shattered pieces of glass.

I think I had about 5 million horrific images play through my mind in the 0.5 seconds it took me to get to her. DID YOU CUT AN ARTERY??? WHERE IS THE BLOOD COMING FROM???

After several stressful minutes of scanning for cuts and pieces of glass stuck in her skin I could see she didn't cut anything major or need stitches. She wouldn't sit still for nothin so I rushed her to the tub and tried to doctor her up best I could. She walked away with tiny scratches on her belly, arm and hand. WHEW, THANK MY LUCKY STARS.

Have you ever attempted to put band aids on a 15 month old?
That shit does not work.

Yay for tiny miracles and FRIDAY.

DC Feature: The Odyssey Brunch Cruise

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Greetings friends :)

After a super fun, extended weekend with our visitors we are back to reality over here. BOOO. The good news is Hadley is feeling much better. We had to make a trip to the urgent care on Friday night when her temperature kept going up and she ended up having another ear infection. Thank heaven for amoxicillin, am I right?! She was back to her chipper self one day later.

We went out for lunch at the Blue Jacket in Navy Yard and watched Tech lose. Another BOOOO. The place was really cool though... they brew their own beer and you can see all of it in their exposed, factory-type building. Picture lots of steel barrels, two-story plus tall ceilings and window filled walls. Their food was delish too.. I recommend the black bean burger. Mmmmm pickled jalepenos, NOM.

On Sunday we boarded the Odyssey brunch cruise for a little double date action on the Potomac and Anacostia rivers.

It was so much fun! I've lived in the DC area my entire life but have never seen the city from this perspective. We lucked out with some beautiful weather and a really sweet server who kept the mimosas and bloody marys coming.

The food was really delicious. It was an elegant buffet set up with breakfast and lunch items, as well as a dessert station that was truly sinful. I had a little bit of everything and went back for another plate........ *help*

There was a band covering some classic songs and playing DJ. People really hit the dance floor when they busted out the cupid shuffle. I haven't heard that tune since my college days.

We we're supposed to cruise north up the Potomac towards Georgetown but since the water level was too high from rain the day before we could only go so far north before we had to turn back and head south towards the Anacostia river. It was a little bit of a bummer because we wanted our visitors to see all the memorials but there were still some great sights for them!

If you're looking for a great date idea or something to do with any out-of-towners, this is it! They offer fancier dinner cruises as well as specialty events like full moon cruises. It's a truly unique way to see the beautiful city of Washington, DC.

Happy sailing, captain!
