Halloween: Our Favorite Books

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

I know this seems crazy but Halloween is sneaking up on us people!!!

Now that Labor day has come and gone I am ready for some costumes, trick or treating, festive decorations and adorable themed books. I've always had a little obsession with buying Hadley books but when holidays roll around I swear it sky rockets times a million. We went to the book store yesterday and I had to tell myself it's not okay to spend $200 on children's books. Dear self, calm the fug down.

I thought I'd share some of our all-time favorite Halloween books and a few new adorable ones we found!

Room on the Broom : This is one of my absolute favorite books of all time. The story is so cute, the illustrations are really fun and I want to read it all year long instead of just for Halloween! Now we just have to get Hadley a witch's hat and broom so she can play along!

Zombelina : This is a new story we bought and I'm so happy we chose it! The story is catchy and includes lots of different Halloween monsters. And what little girl doesn't like a story about a ballerina?

Frankenstein : Another new purchase, this one is a parody on Madeline written by the same author. Madeline is one of our favorites so I knew this had to be good. And it's better than good. It's hilarious. If your babes love Madeline this is the perfect Halloween book for them!

Where the Wild Things Are : A classic. Everyone should own this book.

Goodnight Goon : Another parody, this time based on the classic Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. So adorable and really gets you in the mood for some Halloween fun.

We also bought a new book I've been hearing great things about called The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. This is not Halloween related but I had to tell you about it because it is AWESOME. The story is so funny and clever.. I was cracking up on every page. A must have for sure!!

I had to get a few things for myself while we we're out and I'm super excited to read #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso. This book has been all over the internet and it seemed like an appropriate month to dive in since my first small business venture will be kicking off so SOON. YES. #pumped #amped #girlboss #illstop

Hadley and I are off to My Gym class, a lunch date with Potbelly and, of course, Target. Our week just doesn't feel complete without it.

Happy hump day kiddos,
