Thanksgiving recipe favorites

2 days until the big FEAST YOU GUYS.

All I've had on my mind these days is FOOD so it's no surprise that I'm itching for a good Thanksgiving food coma. I thought what better way to await the big day than sharing some of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes?!

Ever since one of my best pals shared her mac n cheese recipe with me years ago I've added it to our Thanksgiving menu every year (Thanks Ann!!!). Not only is it one of my favorite comfort foods of all time but it is always better the next day... and you know leftovers are a Thanksgiving must.

BAKED MAC N CHEESE
Serves 6-8 people

What you need...

1 8oz package elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
1-2 10oz cans of cream of chicken or mushroom (or both!)
1 8oz serving sour cream
2 8oz bags of shredded cheese, your choice
milk
french fried onions, optional

What you do...

Preheat oven to 350°.

Cook and drain your macaroni.

Pour it into a large bowl and mix with creamed soup, sour cream, milk and one bag of cheese. Feel free to adjust the amount of soup and milk based on the thickness.

Grease a large casserole or baking pan. Pour macaroni mixture in and top with the other bag of cheese. Add french fried onions if you'd like.

Cover with tinfoil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove tin foil and bake an additional 5 minutes, or until all the cheese is melted and the top is golden brown.

You really can't go wrong with this one. And feel free to go nuts with add ins!
Bacon, hello!

Also, for big parties and Thanksgiving I definitely suggest doubling it because there will be NONE left.

GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
Serves 6-8 people

What you need...

4 cans green beans, drained
1-2 10oz cans cream of mushroom
half a package of bacon, cooked
french fried onions, optional

What you do...

Preheat your oven to 350°.

Cook off the bacon, set aside and chop roughly. If you're feeling real cray cray, save some of the bacon grease and mix it in with your green bean mixture.

Mix together all the green beans, cream of mushroom and most of your bacon. Grease a casserole or large baking dish and pour your green bean mixture in. Top with bacon and french fried onions if you wish. Cover with foil and bake 25-30 minutes, or until bubbling. Remove the foil to brown the onions a bit and you're done!

This recipe is so simple but SO delicious. My mom makes it every year and it's always one of my favorites.

Can you even decipher all the ridiculousness on that classy plate?!
GOSH I'M PUMPED!!!!!!

Turkey leg cheers,

Flying with a toddler + Black Friday sale!

Monday, November 24, 2014

Can you believe we are one week away from December 1st?!
Where did November go????

We've been pretty busy this month so I guess that's why it is flying by before my eyes. We just got home from my aunt's wedding in Tennessee last night and had a great weekend celebrating her little family! I am happy to report Hadley did pretty amazing on the plane rides. I wasn't sure how it was going to go now that she's bigger and much more active, but it was a short flight and movies on the tablet definitely helped.

I decided to put together a little round up of our must haves when flying with a toddler in case any of you are planning on traveling with little ones this holiday season!

Vegetables in Underwear // A Christmas Carol : New books are always a great choice for little ones who are getting more and more into reading. Consider bringing one of their favorite stories and one they've never read to keep them entertained. And really, what is more entertaining than vegetables in underwear?

iGuy iPad mini case : It is no secret that iPads and tablets are God's gift to parents when we need some quiet time out of our rambunctious little ones. When Hadley was acting like a wild woman on last night's flight we pulled out the big guns and put Frozen on. It literally was like pressing an "off" button. This case is super fun for the little ones and has a perfect spot for them to hold it on their own.

Chewbeads teether : Our girl has four new teeth breaking through so something for her to chew on is always a must.

Sock monkey : Or any of their favorite stuffed animals/dolls/toys/etc. We brought her sock monkey and baby doll for some cuddle time on the plane and in the hotel while we we're away from home.

Itzy Ritzy reusable snack bag : I always like to travel with some sort of snack on hand for Hadley (and let's be honest here, myself too). These reusable snack bags are prefect for keeping your snacks fresh and mother nature loves them as well! Just don't forget to leave the applesauce packets and other liquids at home.

Boppy pillow : We have loved the boppy since Hadley was an infant but haven't been using it much now that she's such a big girl. We didn't think we'd need it on the plane this weekend so we left it at home. About 30 minutes into each plane ride Josh said, "Next time we gotta bring the boppy." We didn't get Hadley her own seat so she was sitting on our laps. When she started to get sleepy it would have been much easier to lay her across the boppy than trying to hold her in our arms. It will definitely be coming with us to Montana in a few weeks!

Do you have any tips and tricks when flying with little ones? We've got a much longer flight coming up for Christmas so any and all suggestions are always welcome!!!
Now on to fun things, like eating and shopping and Christmas fun!!!!!!

The biggest shopping holiday of the year is only 4 days away people!!!
Everything in the shop will be 40% OFF!

EVERYTHING.

E V E R Y T H I N G.

If you haven't ordered your holiday greeting cards, family Christmas cards or festive holiday prints for your mantel... this Friday is your day!

Happy shopping :)

Mama + mini winter style

8 days until Thanksgiving you guys.

I'll be dreaming of mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing and apple pie until then. While it does suck not being able to enjoy festive cocktails during the holiday season, I think being able to eat with absolutely no restraint makes up for it. Make room #ThompsonNumbaTwo! The food baby is coming in hot!

Yesterday all of us went to the OB to see our little gal on the ultrasound and Josh decided to take the rest of the day off to hang with his gals. We love when daddy plays hookie!!! Hopefully his boss isn't reading this... Hey Ryan!

After the doc, we went out to eat at a local diner (I ordered a Thanksgiving plate.... because I can't wait 8 days to indulge) and then visited Theodore Roosevelt Island to walk off our massive meals. Fun fact: I used to never eat stuffing or cranberry sauce until a few years ago. I'm glad I've finally learned to branch out because HOT DAMN that shit is good.

It was a frigid but beautiful day out so we thought we'd get some fresh air, take some pictures and test out our winter jackets.

While we were at the diner I asked Hadley to pose with Josh. She put her arm around him and then proceeded to make the goofiest faces of all time. She also quickly realized it was really hard to eat her french fry and hold the ketchup bottle all with one hand. Life is so hard.

I am obsessed with Hadley's new winter jacket from Target. It's super warm, has a little peplum flare and you know I can't resist a good floral print. We also got her little boots from Target as well, and while she was really skeptical about wearing them at first, she barely notices them now.

I am also obsessed with my winter jacket from Betsy Johnson last year. It is also a super warm puffer jacket like Hadley's and has a belted waist for a nice feminine touch. I couldn't find it in stock anywhere this year but I found a similar one below!

Here are the rest of our Winter weather picks for both mama & mini :)

For mama

For mini

I LOOOVE the fur coat for Hadley and think it would be so freakin' perfect for Christmas. She already has a couple coats so I'm still trying to justify that purchase. My new go to is, "But baby number two will be able to wear it since she's a girl!!!!" I don't think Josh is convinced....

The snowsuit looks like the comfiest thing on the planet but since we don't live in the Arctic tundra and don't think Hadley will get that much wear out of it we've decided to go with something a little more practical for our bank account... like these snow overalls from Target.

While the freezing cold can suck I do love winter style! There's just something so adorable about knit hats, am I right?!

I hope you're staying warm this week :)
Have a happy day!

Shop Update: Printable holiday cards

Monday, November 17, 2014

Monday is back, it's raining out and it's going to be a frigid week here in DC. But we've got something to be happy about... printable holiday cards have hit the shop!

I have such fond memories of holiday cards and now that I have a family of my own, creating ours has become one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. I still love to look back over the years and see how my brother and sisters have grown and remember fun times we had that year. I remember my mom hanging up all the cards we received from other families each year in our kitchen and we always loved looking at the pictures.

All of these templates are now up in the shop!

The directions are a little lengthy but basically after you purchase you email me your images, message and anything you may want adjusted on the card. I'll create your custom card and send you a proof until you are happy with the result!

After that you can either print yourself at your own local printer (Target, Walmart, Costco, etc.) or I can print for you at an additional fee. All printing prices are listed in the card description. I'll send you a PayPal bill, print your invitations and ship them to you with envelopes.

And that's it!
BATTA BING, BATTA BOOM!
HOLIDAY CARDS!

If you have any questions about how it all works don't hesitate to contact me or leave a comment.

Now it's officially time for a nap.

Sending you some Monday love,

Small Business Saturday Trunk Show

Friday, November 14, 2014

Happy Friday my beautiful angels!

Josh and I are about to hit the road for a little weekend away :) He set up a trip to New York City for my birthday present to visit some of my best pals in the world and go see Lion King on Broadway!!!! I haven't been to a Broadway show in ages and I just can't wait!

I am going to miss this little gal's face though...

I feel like it's getting harder and harder to leave her!! Now that she's older and has a sense of what is going on I always feel bad if she gets upset when we leave. Also, I think I'm the one with separation anxiety these days. She's happy again like 2 seconds after we're out the door but I miss her all the time!!!!!! It'll be nice to have some adult time though and quality time with my mountain man. Now if only I could drink lots of wine..... #poop #comeonApril2015

When we get back from our trip I'll be hard at work for an exciting event I have coming up!!!! Small Business Saturday is celebrated every year on the Saturday following Thanksgiving during one of the craziest shopping times of the year. Shopping small is such a great way to support your local community and give back to artisans around the world who hand make and design their products with so much love.

This year Etsy is hosting trunk shows and events around the United States in honor of Small Business Saturday where local Etsy shop owners will get to showcase and sell their work. It's such an amazing opportunity for buyers and creators to come together when most Etsy purchases happen through a computer screen, and I have been lucky enough to be included in one of these trunk shows!! I am so freakin' excited!!!

I'll be showcasing my goodies at Paper Rock Scissors over in St. Michaels, Maryland on Saturday, November 29th from 10am - 6pm. You can see the full event details here.

I've never been to St. Michaels before but it looks like a beautiful, quaint town right on the Chesapeake Bay. There seem to be some amazing restaurants there, as well (see the list here). You're damn right I already did my lunch and dinner research.

There will be several other local shops there from Etsy and it should be such a fun day! I hope any of you locals who will be around for the holidays can make the trip out! I would love to see your faces :) And I'm definitely going to bring a baked good of some kind... so I swear I'll feed you.
Food as bribery? #always

Check out the Etsy site here for all the trunk shows going on in your area.

I'll share more deets as the event gets closer :) And if there's a baked good in particular that would bring you out be sure to send me some ideas!

Love to you all and don't forget to shop small.

Did you see what I did there ;)

XO,

Shop update: Holiday greeting cards!

Happy hump day you animals, how's it hangin?!

It has been oddly warm over here in the Nation's Capitol but apparently it's supposed to drop drastically this weekend and we might see our first snow! I'm not super pumped about this winter rolling in but I am excited to play in the snow with Hadley for the first time. Who knows how it'll go.. I'm betting she won't put her hands in it like the sand. Either way, it should be comical.

In other non-weather related news...
we have holiday greeting cards people!!!!

I am so excited for you guys to see these. I feel like they're perfectly silly, sweet and full of festive goodness. I hope you love them as much as I do!

All of these goodies are now listed in the shop!

I've also listed a holiday greeting card sampler as well in case you want one of each card at a discounted price.

And there you have it! Do you love them as much as I do? They're getting me so excited for the holiday season!!! Damn you judgey Santa!!!! Where are my fat pants??? I want multiple glasses of Christmas cheer!!!!! Hehehehe.

Next up I'll be listing our customizable family holiday cards.
Keep an eye out for those babies soon :)

Much love my friends,
