Love is in the air this week and with Valentine's Day coming up in a few short days I thought what a perfect time to round up some of my latest internet (and real-life) crushes.
First up, is of course, food.
The other day I was grocery shopping alone, which is a rare thing, so instead of sticking to the list and trying to get in and out before Hadley knocked over 38 jars of pickles... I wandered around a bit. This is dangerous because (a) I went before I had breakfast, big mistake and (b) I'm into my third trimester and have lost all inhibitions. Now you'd think that combination would lead to lots of donuts but instead I came home with a giant slab of pork shoulder.
I don't know what possessed me to randomly buy pork shoulder at 9am but I am SO happy I did because HELLO PULLED PORK.
I found this ridiculously simple crock pot recipe for Hawaiian Kalua pig and it is possibly the best thing to ever happen to me. After you know, finding the love of my life and making some babies. So, I'd say like the 4th best thing ever.
All you need is a slow cooker, 3 pieces of bacon, some boston butt pork shoulder, garlic cloves and Hawaiian salt. Cook it in the slow-cooker over night. Remove from the juices and shred.
I had no idea how it was going to turn out since I've never cooked this much pig in my life but it was the most tender and juicy meat ever. It literally melted off the bone.
I couldn't find Hawaiian salt at our Whole Foods so I used some Himalayan salt instead. I don't think it matters much either way... it was still delicious. You can order the real deal on Amazon if you want to use it.
^^^Do you see that bare naked bone???? I'm telling you.. melted off.
We made some pulled pork tacos last night and I had a BBQ pulled pork sammy today. Well, one and a half sammies. I couldn't stop.
SO GOOD. WOW.
Okay, moving on... I'm sorry....
Lately I've been eyeing some adorable toddler accessories that I think Hadley would love!
She is obsessed with wearing anything that resembles a necklace so I know she would love some of her own painted, wood necklaces. I love this one from Coral and Cloud on Etsy. I think it would be super fun to make them together, too! A Beautiful Mess has a great tutorial here.
Little babies with purses.. just stop.
Thank you to the Lumineers for appreciating my humor.
And making really wonderful music.
I love you.
If you'd like follow along with the debauchery on Twitter you can find me @Very_Larry. And you can thank my friends for that nickname as well.
Sexy, I know.
If you're looking for some fun Valentine's Day crafts, Babble rounded up a bunch of pretty things for you to make! You can find this heart garland at Say Yes.
And of course, everyone should treat themselves to some donuts on a day dedicated to love.
Find these yummy beauties over at The First Year.
With all the cold weather sticking around a while longer, I've been trying to come up with some fun craft ideas for Hadley and I to do together. We both have been going a bit stir crazy lately so I think some messy fun will help us both.
I made a whole board dedicated to crafts with little ones on Pinterest that you can see here.
I can't wait to try these plastic bottle cat planters from Bru DIY, animal poms from MR P and these Olliblocks from Ollibird.
And if you're looking for something like I am to keep the messes a bit contained, these leather play mats from Playground are releasing in May and I just can't wait! Such a great idea for picnics, parties and craft days.
Last but not least, I'm currently reading Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell and have not been able to put it down. It's such a sweet story about love and puts those first love butterflies right back in your belly when you read it. It's the perfect book to read around Valentine's Day to remind you of all those mushy gushy feelings and why falling in love is so wonderful :)
That's what we're loving lately around here!
Do you have any latest obsessions to share?? I'm always looking for a new great book, Etsy shop or recipe so feel free to share!
