Nora: 1 year

Thursday, May 19, 2016

It has been over a month since Nora turned ONE and we've been having so much fun!

Her personality is coming through more and more each day and she's so adorably silly. She cracks us up with her faces, goofy sounds and sly smirks.

It's crazy how fast they change and develop at this age. Just a few months back on her 10 month update I was talking about how she just took her first steps and was saying "mama" every once in a while. Now she's running around the house, swinging her arm wildly, and yelling all sorts of sounds and words.

She says mama and dada to us, but she calls Josh mama most of the time ;) She's also been copying a lot of the animals and their sounds in the Peek-a-Boo Barn app. She loves that game and a bunch of other apps that I'll share soon!

Another great and convenient milestone is her mastery of the stairs! Baby gates are always a pain in the butt so I'm glad we could finally get rid of our chair barricade.

Our girl is eating like a champ these days and we give her everything except most nuts since her teeth are still working their way in.

She loves spaghetti, avocado, cucumbers, watermelon, bananas, hummus, fruit snacks and popsicles, just like her big sis.

I'm happy to report that Nora is back to being a bomb ass sleeper! I did some sleep training with her during her nap times where I would only rock her for a bit and then lay her in her crib to fall asleep on her own. I also made it a point not to nurse her before this since she was so used to falling asleep when I did.

She goes to sleep in her crib around 8 and will sleep until 5-6 am. She also really loves this Sleep Sheep that she got as a birthday gift and loves pushing the music buttons as she falls asleep.

^^Spaghetti destruction is exhausting

The other day I was cooking in the kitchen and I turned around to find 5 cans stacked up in a tower. This kid is a budding little builder! She's been stacking them every day since.

She loves exploring in the yard, running away from us and giggling like a little devil, playing in water, dancing with big sis, playing in dirt, cuddling, climbing anything possible, bubbles, throwing food, eating crayons, carrying/murdering all the caterpillars, and tearing apart my bathroom drawers.

The smirk lives on and is getting even more mischievous.

Whenever she runs towards us or gets really excited she closes her eyes and squints them really hard. It's adorable and so silly.

Her latest signature move is laying down on her belly.. anywhere and everywhere. This kid loves to lounge and she loves to do it on hardwood floors, tile floors, concrete and even mud. She'll put her face down, too. I'm trying to come up with a name for it.. it reminds me of planking but not quite the same.

This one morning, I was running around like a psycho trying to get everyone ready and in the van so we could get out of the house (always a shitshow) and it was raining a bit outside. I forgot something (like the keys or my phone or a shoe or something necessary) inside and left the girls playing in the driveway in the puddles. When I came back out I heard Nora crying and saw her in the driveway with her back facing me. When she turned around the entire front half of her body was covered in mud. Even her face. She must have #donetheNora in the puddle of mud. So yeah.. she's committed to the move.

Hadley and I called her the mud monster for the rest of the day.

Our little Roo, you are such a bundle of happiness and love.

I love how adventurous you are, although I think that means we're in for some trouble in the years to come :-P I've been trying to take a page from your book when it comes to your lack of fear of anything in these woods, including the bumble bees you try to wrangle in the flowers.

Thank you for no longer biting my nipples and for sleeping through the night. Mommy much appreciates it.

We love you so much angel baby!
